For this year’s champions League final, I was amazed at the amount of press that Manchester United was getting. Everyone of the revered football pundits predicted that this was going to be a cake walk for a ‘clearly dominant’ Manchester United team. Were they all forgetting the dominant performances that FC Barcelona has been producing for the entire season? Yes, Ronaldo is a great footballer, but we all know that he crumbles under pressure. Yes, Ferdinand and Vidic are a force to be reckoned with in that wall like of defences and Van der Sar is nearly unbeatable when he is on his game. But this is a Barcelona team that has already brought home the League title and the Copa del Rey titles on the back of some glorious displays.
The front 3 of Messi, Henry and Eto’o have crossed the 100 goal mark for the season, a feat that is a lot harder than it sounds. I don’t think any team can stop an attack like Barca’s. I remember listening to the Champions’ League show on ESPN last night and these ‘experts’ were glowing at the way Manchester can produce goals from anywhere. But today, 27th of May 2009, Manchester United were outplayed and outclassed by a clearly dominant Barcelona team. They have proven all these critics wrong and have shut a couple of mouths and have become Champions of Europe.
Leo Messi has proven in this game that in big games, he has the ability to raise his level. Again, listening to these pundits on the tele speak about the last couple of times that Messi and Ronaldo have met on the football team more often than not comes out on top was frustrating. I’m listening to the tele now and they are very quiet. Taking nothing away from Ronaldo, he is a great player as I said before. But his arrogance and lack of maturity at times will always play against him. His performance tonight was atrocious. His consistent fouls on Carlos Puyol, showed exactly how mentally weak he is. I’m not sure if this is something that he can work on. For all his talent, he is unable to raise his game and his head when his team is down. This has been shown time and time again.
At the end of the game, the excuses are coming in fast and furious now. “..and Manchester United definitely miss Darren Fletcher”. Steups!! Give me a break. Barca have played this final with a make shift defence, yet there is no mention of this fact. This statement is not for Manchester United fans, this is for all the 'bandwagonists' and people that refused to give this Catalan team their respect, FC BARCELONA ARE THE KINGS OF EUROPE AND THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW!!!! TALK NAH!!!!
CONGRATS BARCA ON YOUR TREBLE FEAT!!!!!

I couldn't agree more, well said....
Congrats to Barca on a great season...They played great football all year.
I disagree with you on Ronaldo though. I doh think he played atrocious, he had a decent game he just did not have any moment of brilliance like had at other times.
Note: The trio aint quite cross 100 goals. Close but no cigar
my bad on that statement. the entire team scored over 100 goals in league play. thats what i meant to say. good catch roy. but ronaldo wasn't in rome after the first 10 minutes. i think he went back to old trafford with rooney
Lol... I have to read ur posts more often. Well said (despite d lil trims here n there)! It was a totally riveting display of talent and strength by Barca. Absolute!
