Some small observations that I have made during the course of this world cup:
· England is a perennial waste of time.
· Certain players are a product of their teams and are really overrated e.g. Christiano Ronaldo, Rooney,
· Nike ads are a blight.
· David villa is incredible.
· This is the year of the vuvuzela.
· Outfield players just needed a little time to get accustomed to the Jabulani.
· France is nothing without Zidane.
· Italy is nothing.
· The true stars of this tournament aren’t really the established stars, but the starlets e.g. Oezil (Germany), Mueller (Germany), Anan (Ghana), Hernandez (Mexico)
· US men’s football is a force to be reckoned with. I was won over this World Cup.
· Maradona wasn’t just a great player, but a great coach/inspiration to his team and country.
· No one has enjoyed this World Cup as much as Maradona.
· Maicon cries too much.
· Trinidad has way too much Brazil supporters!!!

LOL! Interesting short-list of observations.
BTW: If you are not using the "umlauts" it's Oezil and Mueller.
good list...last comment should be first
I have a question for you Alaldinho - can you please define 'overrated'?
It seems unfair for you to say that a player is overrated because he has underperformed in a world cup tournament. That is but a small sample in a player's career - if a player performs season after season in several of the top leagues in Europe, produced some breathtaking moments of brilliance that you yourself watch on youtube over and over with L'il Wayne songs playing in the background, wins golden boots all over Europe and FIFA world player of the year more than once but in 3 or 4 games in three (3) weeks, he is unable to advance his squad in a world cup - he is overrated???
By that same token, men like Michel Platini, George Weah, George Best, Zico, Socrates, Falcao were also overrated. Recalibrate my friend, those players are exceptional more so the more recent players, if only because of the playing itinerary they face today - they play alot more games than 5 - 10 years ago!
Greatness would be reserved for a special few, but I would hardly think they are overrated - when one can just put on a jersey and its replicas would sell all over the world by the millions, then at some point, they were well worth the rating that enabled that behaviour.
Good pick up Deneil re: umlauts
