Over the past couple of months Neymar has been the name on everyone’s lips. This 19 year old is carded to be the biggest thing out of Brazil. He has led his club team to many a victory over the past year, but is he the next Ronaldo or just another overrated Brazilian youth?
Neymar to me is indeed a talent, but his effectiveness has been highly overrated. For example, at the same age Robinho was just as good if not better than Neymar. He also coupled his flashy footwork with goals, or at least assists. As one of the commentators rightfully said during Brazil’s draw with Paraguay, “the difference between Neymar and players like Ronaldo and Rivaldo, etc, is that when they were provided with opportunities they converted them”. Far too often have we seen Neymar choke when in great opportunities during this tournament? Now mind you I am in no way blaming Brazil’s performances on him, but merely stating my view that he is overrated. In two starts in this year’s Copa America, he has produced nought, no assists, no goals, only flair. Last time i checked this doesn’t win matches.
I eagerly await responses from the football fans out there. But my verdict: talent for the future, but overrated.

i agree. very overrated.
I hate to admit but I have to agree. I think that there is also lots of pressure on Mano whom I feel is not the best. I just hope for the best. The BEST is a sixth world cup!
