Is it still a clasico?

Yet again we have been witness to another Clasico that is slowly beginning to turn into a waste of time. Barcelona/ Pep  have now bested their most bitter rivals Real Madrid/ Jose just about every time they step out onto the pitch (my stats may be wrong but they have failed to get a result from Real Madrid all of 1 time under Pep). This has turned from a match between the best two teams in Europe to nothing more than a training exercise for Barcelona.

Jose Mourinho and by extension Real Madrid have failed again. Real’s inability to cope with Barcelona’s superior technique and team oriented play has diminished Real’s shine. For all the expensive buys and media hype surrounding Real’s star studded cast they are constantly belittled by the absolute brilliance in the simplicity of Barcelona’s play. Barring the goal by Ronaldo, and taking nothing away from his strike, Real Madrid looked to be grasping at straws.

I think it’s about time that everyone just accepts that Barcelona are currently the best team ever assembled. This statement is just based on the clasico victories, but on the incredible trophy haul that this team has amassed over the past couple of years.

On a side note, Pepe should be banned for a couple of months for his blatant disregard for FIFA fairplay. His horrible showing yesterday needs to be looked at seriously and if it goes unchecked will send the wrong message to the other ‘hardmen’ in the sport.
