"A week of medical problems is capped off by a nasty headache for Chelsea".
This was
the damning synopsis of the commentator at the end of the 3-0 drubbing of
Chelsea FC by Manchester City.

Somewhere
in London Chelsea FC medical doctor, Eva Carneiro, probably sat watching the
Chelsea vs Manchester City match with a sly smile on her face, seeing
Manchester City's team doctor being called onto the field of play to help with
the injury to a Chelsea player. Having her duties as team doctor reduced to
almost insignificant levels by Jose Mourinho, she would have felt some pang of
satisfaction as the gap left by her absence was on show for all to see in the
first major match up of the season.
Mourinho has received alot of criticism for his decision to effectively demote Carneiro, not just from his peers, but us the fans who looked forward to her cameo appearances on the field. She certainly made up for John Terry's charming mug.
This loss to Man City was
a fitting culmination of a torrid week for the Chelsea camp. From Jose
chastising Chelsea's medical staff, to not having enough staff on the very next
game day. Chants of "You're Getting Sacked In The Morning" rang out around the stadium as Diego
Costa had to be treated for a head injury by City's medical staff. But as
Jose stood stone faced at the sight of each one of the major injury stoppages
during the match, his pride won't let him buckle and admit that he may have been a bit rash in this situation.
For the Chelsea fans
out there I hope that this impasse between the medical team and the Chosen One
is sorted out soon. Chelsea's chance at a title defence, John Terry's phantom
injury and Diego Costa's bleeding head certainly need it too.
