Over the years we’ve seen footballers’ retirement homes change locations quite a bit, from AC Milan, the Middle East to the MLS. It now seems like the destination of choice is Russia. Eto’o’s move to Anzhi Makhachkala reeks of a man seeing about his pension plan more than a player looking for more glory. Personally I don’t blame him. This 4 time African Footballer of the Year has won the Champions’ league three times. He has also won the Spanish and Italian leagues, an Olympic gold medal and the Africa Cup of Nations, twice. So realistically speaking he has nothing left to prove to anyone.
His Salary at Anzhi will be 10 mil euro (£8.7m) per season. Time to make that money Sammy $$$.
