What We've Learned!

Fabregas really is a good fit for Barca. 15 minutes debut, 1 trophy. What a way to start life in the Camp Nou. The much maligned ex-Arsenal captain fit so seamlessly into the Barcelona midfield that one hardly noticed that this was his debut. He sprayed passed around with such authority that I was fooled into thinking that he never went on that loan spell to Arsenal. The fight between himself and Thiago to become Xavi’s heir apparent will be sure to bring out some incredible performances from these two players.

Jose Mourinho and by extension Real Madrid are poor sports. From the extremely physical nature of Real’s play to the nasty scenes that followed Marcelo’s red card tackle, Real Madrid have degenerated into a team of hoodlums. Long gone are the days of clasicos where they were fiercely contested footballing battles, now they are just battles. It seems now that every time there is a clasico Real ends with less than 11 men. Real on their day are a beauty to watch, with Ozil, Ronaldo, Benzema et al combining for some great attacking football; but when faced with a superior foe, they become frustrated and take out their inadequacies on their opposition.

Sergio Aguero is the truth. The argentine’s display on his debut for Manchester City has made more than a few people sit up and take notice. Aguero’s eye for goal, quick feet and his uncanny ability to make the players around him play better (ask Diego Forlan), was on show in Man City’s 4-0 demolition of Swansea. His man of the match display has inevitably signaled the end of his countryman’s City career. Hard luck Tevez.

Mano Menezes isn’t as crazy as I first thought. Ronaldinho’s back!!! ‘nuff said.
